Built because the numbers never traced back to anything
Retail trading tools are very good at producing confident output and very bad at explaining where it came from. Scores appear without weights. Backtests appear without costs. Signals appear without any record of how the last hundred like them performed.
Quantivo started from the opposite constraint: if a number cannot be traced to a source, an as-of time, and a reproducible computation, it does not get shown at all. Everything else in the platform follows from that one rule.
What we optimise for
Provenance over polish
A confident-looking chart with no lineage behind it is worse than no chart. Every value Quantivo stores records where it came from, when it was acquired, when it was effective, and the hash of the exact input that produced it.
Abstention is a valid answer
Systems that must always produce a recommendation eventually produce bad ones. Quantivo is designed to return nothing when the evidence is thin, stale, or contradictory, and to say why.
No silent fallbacks
When a data source is unavailable, the module reports unavailable. It never quietly substitutes cached or sample data and presents it as current — the failure mode that makes a tool untrustworthy the first time you catch it.
Measured, not asserted
Every claim the platform makes is scored against what actually happened afterwards. Calibration is a number you can check, not a marketing adjective.
Who is building it
Quantivo is a FencePencil company. FencePencil is a senior software team that designs and builds custom web applications, APIs, business platforms, and mobile products — the same engineering standards applied to our own product rather than only to client work.
That means the platform is built the way we would hand it to a client: typed end to end, tested in continuous integration, deployed from immutable images, and documented as architectural decision records rather than tribal knowledge.
